Yamamoto House

JA+U : Yamamoto House by Ken Yokogawa
The 174 m2 (1,873 ft2) house stands quietly on a gentle slope in the middle of its wooded site. A U-shaped approach road wraps around the house, delivering cars inconspicuously beneath an elevated deck that is almost the same size as the footprint of the home. The entrance to the house is located on the basement level.

In the ground floor living / dining space, floor-to-ceiling windows follow the gabled roof of the two-story house. Outside the window, the deck extends out into the forest.

The spaces on the first and second floor are only separated by furniture.

Daylight from the large picture window floods the wood-clad interior.

A library and bedroom are located on the basement floor.
