Generous glazing on the ground floor promotes a dialogue between the community and the studio inside. Passersby are encouraged to look into the space.

The second floor is located at the same height as the roofs of the surrounding houses. This, coupled with low 1.98 m (6.5 ft) ceiling height, gives an attic-like feel to the smaller gallery and private spaces upstairs.

On the outside, the bands differ in thickness and color from the rest of the exterior. This is intended to break up the volume into smaller ones to better match the surrounding buildings. Inside, they act as a unifying theme throughout each story of the building.
