May 2015 issue of a+u is a special issue surveying London's architecture and cityscape since 19th century to the present.
London in the 21st century remains a center of architectural activity. There are many renovations and expansions of existing buildings, as well as examples of district and area renewal as an alternative to scrap and build. It is a picture of an “urban” environment that has matured through a dialog in the context of “time”, “place”, and “society” – the “city” as the total accumulated memories of its architecture and residents.
With new photographs of over 70 works taken by Shinkenchiku-sha's own photographer, essays, columns, and comments from London-based architects, the issue introduces the city's 200 years of development.
